10 Amazing Photo Apps You Should Try

Smartphones have replaced so many things.  Calculators, address books, even your laptop.  No surprise it’s the number one tool most people go to for taking photos.  What do you do when your photos don’t look the way you wanted?  Low light, shadows, unexpected people or objects in the background, so many things can take that photo from a cherished memory you would proudly display or post to a photo that gets moved to your trash folder.   With the apps listed here, you can bring new life to those so-so photos. Go from boring to amazing with just a few clicks.

Below are some of my favorite photo apps.  I have posted before and after photos using each app so you can see the difference each can make.  All of the apps below are free to download but many require you to purchase the upgraded version if you want to work ad-free.

Snapseed by Google

My favorite photo app.  The before photo is on the left (or top) and the after on the right.  So easy to use and a quick way to make any photo look good.  With 29 Tools and Filters, including healing, brush, structure, HDR, perspective, and auto fixes anyone can use this app to make their pictures look like they were taken by a pro.

For more advanced users, there’s a spot removal brush to help you remove small blemishes from your photos. It’s a nice feature that can help you perfect your photo before sharing on social media.

Photo Editor Pro by Zentertain-

This app can do so many things!! Enhance, effects, frames, stickers, overlays, transform, plus it has beauty enhancing features like blemish remover and teeth whitening.  Easy to use and fun to play with. A very comprehensive photo editor with pretty much everything you could ever want to do to improve your photo right on your phone!

Pics Art Photo Studio by Pics Art-

Fun art effects.  One of my favorite apps.  Unlike many art effects apps, Pics Art allows you to apply the filter to any portion of the photo you want.  With 1000s of amazing features, PicsArt includes tools to create cutouts, crop, stretch, clone, add text & adjust curves. It also has a full library of artistic photo filters (including HDR), frames, backgrounds, borders, callouts & more. All tools have a brush mode for fine-tuning & applying selectively on just part of your photo. PicsArt provides 100s of fonts for adding text to your pictures & creating memes. PicsArt also provides a rapidly evolving set of AI-powered, Prisma-style effects.  Upgrade to the Gold edition to work ad-free.

Airbrush by Meitu-

This one is great for “beautifying” your selfies.  Lots of great tools like body slimming, face slimming, instant makeup, teeth whitening, etc.  The downside to this app is that you have to watch an ad video first before accessing many of the tools or you have to purchase individual tools.

BETTER OPTION- PHOTO ART by Fun Factory-  Easy to use, can color only specific areas of a photo.  My one complaint is that I was not able to make the eraser tool work.  Color the picture with your fingers or apply several effects. Color your old black & white photos. Everyone can be an artist with this app.

PhotoShop Express by Adobe- From basic to advanced this is the best easy app for quick fixes.  Definitely one of the best photo editing and collage maker tools for easy, quick and powerful editing on mobile devices. You can also add a watermark to your picture with this app.  You can change what you want printed on the photo and the position of the watermark for each photo if you want to.

PhotoDirector by Cyber Link-

So many fun extras in this app!  Look at the photo on the left.  See the man on the pier?  Now, look at the photo on the right.  This app allows you to easily remove unwanted objects or people. Powerful yet Easy Photo Editing Tools The scene feature lets you add a photo to their pre-loaded templates like time square, newspaper (see photo below), and more.  The “splash’ allows you to put a shape around something in the image and then add filters to only that area of the photo.

This app also comes with a ton of live camera filters and effects to enhance your photos as you shoot.  You can edit, adjust and then combine your favorite photos to create fantastic collages too.

Toolwiz Photos Pro Editor- by Tool Wiz

This app is a great all-in-one editor, providing 200+ powerful tools. Toolwiz Pro Editor is trying to offer a whole edit toolkit for you all in one place.  Great for editing portraits with many tools to remove blemishes, wrinkles, whiten teeth and slim.  This app has everything.  Add text, stickers, and masks.  Face swap, mirror images. Water reflections. You can create memes and add a watermark.

PHOTO LAB by Vic Man Llc-

Photo Lab is an Internet-based application, meaning, It helps keep your devices’ memory free from the tons of resources required to create the high-quality artworks from your photos.  The free version of this app has a ton of ads but you can upgrade to the Pro version for $2.99 and work ad-free.  This app gives you fun effects.  Animate, colorize, distortion effects, and more.  Just pick a filter, frame or montage to use, then choose which image to process, and that’s it! You do have to upgrade if you want to be able to remove the Photo Lab watermark from your pictures.

PIXLR by Pixlr-

Tons of free effects and filters.  This app makes it easy to create and then instantly share to your favorite social media network.  Add text, create memes, combine photos, make collages, this app does a lot.  Make your selfies beautiful with simple tools to remove blemishes and red-eyes or to whiten your teeth.
