10 of the Most Unusual All-inclusive Resorts in The World

When I think of all-inclusive resorts I think of the clear blue waters of the Caribbean.  I think of exotic frozen cocktails served to me poolside and basking in the sun with the sounds of the ocean nearby.  What I DON’t think of are snowy Swiss Alps or trekking through the jungles of Africa.

All-inclusive resorts are found all over the world and the laid-back beach vibes of the Caribbean are only a fraction of the options that are out there.  Below is a list of 10 of the most unusual all-inclusive resorts in the world.  From the mountains in Colorado to the shores of Hanuman Bay, Thailand and everywhere in between.  I hope you enjoy reading about these exotic destinations and if you have any to add to the list please leave a comment below, I would love to hear about it.

The Singular, Torres Del Paine, Patagonia, Chile

known for its soaring mountains, bright blue icebergs that cleave from glaciers and golden grasslands that shelter rare wildlife such as llama-like guanacos and home to a large variety of birds like the Black-chested Buzzard-eagle, Andean Condors, black-necked swans, and Chilean Flamingos just to name a few.  Patagonia is one of the truly breathtaking places in the world. Located in the midst of all this beauty is The Singular.  Extreme sophistication, incredible history, and the highest level of personalized service make this resort really stand out.  Booking your stay as the full board program will give you an all-inclusive experience like few others.  Included in your stay are all meals, drinks (including alcoholic beverages), roundtrip transfers to and from the Punta Arenas airport (with a minimum 3-day stay), use of the spa, and (what rates this resort in our top 10 list) a selection of daily expeditions unparalleled to its competition.  Mountain climbing, Kayak tours, horseback expeditions, museum tours, Condor watching, just to name a few.

Dunton Hot Springs, Colorado

An all-inclusive resort disguised as an 1800’s ghost town? That’s right!  Nestled deep in the San Juan Mountains of the Colorado Rockies sits the Dunton Hot Springs Resort.  Located about 30 miles from Telluride, CO this intimate resort offers 12 unique, private log cabins (ranging in size from 1-5 bedrooms), and one luxury tent.  All meals are included along with an endless list of activities.  Take a picnic lunch out to a scenic mountain view, soak in one of 5 natural hot springs, go mountain biking, hiking, or in the winter months enjoy some ice skating, snowshoeing, ice hockey, or get your groove on in the dance hall.  Don’t let the rustic appearance fool you, high-speed wifi is still available throughout this resort if you want to check in with the world outside.   If you have a big family go ahead and rent the entire resort and make this a truly one in a lifetime trip.  Dogs are welcome in some of the cabins but must be discussed in advance as some size and breed restrictions do apply.

And Beyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp, Botswana, Africa

With only nine air-conditioned tents (which include private plunge pools; secluded salas (large room or hall) ideal for relaxing massages; outdoor and indoor showers) this camp offers an all-inclusive experience steeped in wonder and magic.  Nestled deep in the heart of the game-rich Okavango Delta. This all-inclusive offers a beautiful Botswana safari experience.  Enjoy luxurious solitude on Delta island within a 272 000 hectare (672,125 acres) exclusive wildlife concession.  Game drives, bush walks, scenic helicopter flights and horseback safaris allow you to explore this beautiful area from different perspectives. See Exceptional wildlife, including elephant, large buffalo herds, hippo, lion, leopard, African wild dogs, antelope and 450 different species of birds. Botswana is an exclusive safari destination and tourism is strictly regulated.

Saint-Moritz Roi Soleil, Switzerland

What about an all-inclusive resort for all the winter sports lovers out there?  Club Med has you covered with this gorgeous Swiss mountain resort.  The resort sits at an altitude of 5,740 feet (1750 meters) and is located not far from some amazing ski slopes and a lake.  This resort offers guests a wide range of unique activities including, horse racing, polo, and the famous Cresta Run on the nearby frozen lake.  If you have never heard of the Cresta Run it is one of the few skeleton bobsleds runs in the world.  A winter sliding sport which a person rides a small sled, known as a skeleton bobsled (or -sleigh), down a frozen track while lying face down and head-first.  Of course, it goes without saying, that you can also partake in some amazing skiing and snowboarding.  Sledding is also a highlight.  St. Moritz is one of the oldest and most renowned ski resorts in the world so if you are coming to ski it’s safe to say you won’t be disappointed. This is so cool! I used to teach Kurstyn at PRDA, a therapeutic horseback riding centre when she was little. I recognized her picture instantly! It warms my heart to see her all grown up. http://tonyclifton.net/
