2018 Liebster Award Nomination

Liebster Award Nomination 2018

Liebster award

I was so excited and honored to see that Undercover Travel Agent had nominated me for the Liebster Award!  If you are not already familiar with Undercover Travel Agent I encourage you to head over and check out her blog.  Laura is a Travel Agent and blogger from Chicago and she has some great information on her site.

Last month I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award, so when I received another award nomination this month I was blown away.  I started my blog in April of this year so receiving these nominations really makes me feel like my hard work is getting noticed.  So without further ado let me fill you in on the details of this award.

10 Questions from Undercover Travel Agent:

If you won a trip to Europe, who would you take with you?

I would take my children.  My father is from Belgium and we have been wanting to plan a trip to see where he grew up.  When I was 14 I went with my parents and we rented a car for two weeks.  We drove through Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, France, and Switzerland.  I would love to recreate that trip with my family.

Which of your blog articles is your favorite? And why?

Probably The 10 most unusual all-inclusive resorts in the world just because I had so much fun researching it.  I love all-inclusive resorts and finding out about all the different types that are available was so interesting to me.  My bucket list got a bit longer after I wrote that!!

Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met while traveling?

This is a hard one.  I love talking to locals when we visit a new place.  I don’t know if I can pin it down to one person.  I love hearing about what life is like in foreign countries.  Learning about different foods, history, and culture.  I try to talk to people where ever I go and learn something new from them.

If you found a magical genie who would only grant you one wish, what would it be?

I think the standard answer to this question is more wishes, right?

If you could travel anywhere in the world for free, where would you go?

Currently, I am obsessed with Europe.  I would love to take an all-expense paid month long vacation and just drive from one country to the next exploring as much as I could fit in.  Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Greece are at the top of my list.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten while traveling?

In Mexico my friend ordered Octopus.  I expected it to come looking a bit like calamari but instead, they brought her a plate with a whole octopus on it!  It looked like they just pulled it from the sea and put it on a plate.  I actually did not eat it but that is the weirdest thing I can think of.

What is your preferred method of travel? Air, Land or Sea?

I prefer to fly, even though I get nervous EVERY TIME.  The destinations I want to see all are so far away and flying is just the quickest way to get there.  I do love cruise ships, and I also love to drive. I have driven across the US many times, but air travel can take me places that cars and ships can’t.

If you were on a cruise with the worst beverage variety ever, and they only served one beverage…what would it be?

Tomato juice.  Yuck.  I love all other tomato-based products, but I just can’t get past the thickness of it.  It seems like drinking a glass of cold soup to me.  I am also not a big fan of Dr. Pepper or any cherry flavored cola.

Where is your favorite place you’ve ever been? And why?

I recently went to Hawaii for the first time.  I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the island.  I did not expect to fall in love with it so fast!  Everyone always talks about how beautiful it is but I have been to a great many tropical destinations and I think I expected this to be similar to the others.  I was wrong.  Everything was so clean, the water was a color of blue I don’t think I have seen before, the mountains were so green, and the trees looked like something from another planet.  If I could, I would move there tomorrow.
